Widows and marginalized African women find hope and new purpose as Watoto House Mothers.

These women commit to caring for a new family of 8 orphans from the age of 2 until adulthood.

Watoto House Mothers receive parenting training and ongoing support as they work to create stable, loving homes for the children who become their children for life.

Vivienne*

Vivienne was captured by the LRA rebels when she was 12 years old. Upon reaching the rebel base in Sudan, she was given to a man to be his sex slave.

Vivienne escaped when she was 18 and returned to her village in Gulu. Three years later she was recaptured with 4 other people who were all murdered. The rebels spared her because she was pregnant. Instead of murdering her, they mutilated her by cutting off her lips and ears with razor blades.

Vivienne joined LIVING HOPE where she is receiving counselling and being empowered with practical skills to boost her tailoring business.
